PB4L School Value Focus: Kaitiakitanga

  • Good luck for the finalists in the Whaikōrero challenge today. As an audience we also have an important job of listening attentively and enjoying each of the speeches. 
Sport: 

  • Breaktime Gear Monitors: Today we have Nicole, Emily & Sahasra from Room 9 manning the shed. 
  • Volleyball: Volleyball practice for Koru Games 1:15pm in the Hall – please get there really quickly!  
  • Basketball: I need your singlets washed and returned to Rm 5 asap please. Cheers, Mr. Botting
  • Koru Games 3×3 Teams – Training Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:15pm on the court by the hall, as we need to play catch up. Cheers, Mr. Botting.

  • Futsal Boys Trial TODAY (1:15pm): Please come to the court by the orchard if you didn’t trial yesterday. (Elias, Leo, Lachlan, Sathsilu, Fawzan, Jacob, Fereti, Ronak, Darren, Alex, Arthur, Harvey, Harry, Sam, Walter, Carter, Adam, Muhammad, Samar, Bridger, Jack, Waitapu, Oscar). Academic:

  • Whaikōrero Challenge: We have a time crunch getting through 10-11 speeches in an hour. That is between 35-45 minutes of just speaking, plus we have the intros from the MCs and judging time. Please ensure that you are prompt in being ready at 11am for Y7 and 12pm for Y8. Year 7 please run over to the hall straight on the warning bell and line up for your teacher. We will try and start right on 11am. Year 8 we often have to run into lunch. This is something your teacher can balance out for your class at a later date, so even if you hear the bell, please keep your composure and stay focused on the speaker. Speakers, please sit in the front row ready to go. Thanks

Sport: 

  • Breaktime Gear Monitors: Today we have Darren, Alex and Cody from Room 3 manning the shed. 
  • Rugby Jerseys still to be returned to Harrison Rm 9.
  • Capture the Flag – Year 7 vs year 8 Lunchtime, anyone invited. Mr E
  • Boys’ Futsal Trials, we will have another go today. 1:15pm on the court by the school orchard. Please be on time and come even if you don’t have your gear. We will aim for another trial tomorrow and potentially a trial on Thursday too, so please be organised with gear.

  • Kids Lit Quiz: If you would like to try out for next year’s Kits Lit team please come to the Library at 1.20 on Thursday for a quick quiz. It should only take 10-15 minutes. The Library will be closed for all other    students.  Mrs C

PB4L School Values (Term 3 focus: Kaitiakitanga) 

  • Our Whaikōrero Challenge finals are on Wednesday. The Year 7’s will compete from 11am and the Year 8’s from 12 ish. Good luck to any students doing classroom speeches over the next few days and our finalists as they look forward to the finals. It is awesome to see students becoming kaitiaki of their learning. 
Sport: 

  • Breaktime Gear Monitors: Today we have Jack, Miller & Maneetjit from Rm 4 manning the shed. 
  • Dance Club: Meet in the hall at lunchtime. 
  • Rugby Jerseys still to be returned to Harrison Rm 9: Carter see Mr Burke asap please.

  • Library Display: Rm5 has put together a display on FILM! Rm5 have studied a few films this year: Starwars Ep.1, Mulan and Interstellar. Come have a look at what it’s all about. From a video on camera angles, to students theme essays and film booklets, explore books that inspired films and all our film studies that you may convince your teacher to teach. 
  • Library Duty:  Cici and Manu are the School Librarians on duty today.                                   
  • Wanted: milk bottle tops and coloured PET recycling number 2 to T2 Fiona please!
  • Kids’ Lit 2027:  If you would like to try out for this team please come to the Library tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1.20pm. I will be talking about this event at all Year 7 Library sessions today.  Mrs C

Community and Public Health have noted an increase in the number of gastrointestinal illness cases reported in schools and Early Childhood Education centres.

Children who develop vomiting and/or diarrhoea should not attend school and can return once they have been symptom free for 48 hours.
