Kirkwood Intermediate School Enrolment Scheme

To avoid overcrowding, or the likelihood of overcrowding, the Board of Kirkwood Intermediate School has implemented an enrolment scheme that has been developed by the Secretary of Education.

Under this scheme, students will be enrolled if they live within the home zone. Please click on the link to view.

The Kirkwood Intermediate School enrolment scheme will commence in Term 2, 2022, however, if you would like to apply for a place at Kirkwood before this time then please contact the school office.

2023 Enrolment applications

Enrolments for 2023 opens 2 May 2022 and closes 31 August 2022.  If you wish to apply after this time, then please contact the school office.

Out-of-zone enrolment applications are welcome. A school zone does not restrict students living outside of zone from applying.

The enrolment of out-of-zone students is governed by the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020.

If the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot.  If a ballot for out-of-zone places is required, it will be held on 6 September 2022, parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three working days of the ballot being held.

If you live in the home zone and have not yet signaled your intention to enrol your child later this year, please contact the school immediately to assist us to plan appropriately.

2022 Enrolment Applications

Applications for out-of-zone places are now being invited for those students who will become eligible for enrolment during the period 2 May 2022 and 15 December 2022 (This includes students applying to be treated as in-zone students under transition provisions). The deadline for receipt of applications for out-of-zone places in 2022 is 1 April 2022, 24 June 2022 and 16 September 2022.

If a ballot for out-of-zone places is required, it will be held on 5 April 2022, 29 June 2022 and 21 September 2022.   Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.

Please refer to the Kirkwood Intermediate School Enrolment information on our website ‘How to Enrol’.
