PB4L School Value Focus: Rangatiratanga: Great leadership skills were displayed last week at school cross country. We have two big school wide events planned this week. Kirkwood Kid for a Morning and Whole School Sausage Sizzle. How can we show our leadership in these? Have a short class discussion.
International Language Week: This week is the official International Language Week of 2024. We are proud to say that Kirkwood Intermediate embraces different cultures and languages with Mannakitanga. We will be celebrating the International Language Week for the next couple of weeks to show our respect and appreciation for the diverse cultures we have within our school community. There will be quizzes, class/individual art competition coming up so look out for those opportunities 😉
International Language Week Challenge: Say good morning in different languages you know or are currently learning!

We have a sausage sizzle on Friday 14 June.

Our sausage sizzles are $2 each, please come and pay cash on the morning of the 14th of June from 8:10 to 8:40 at the office. The PTA will be there taking the cash and your order. That will lock in your order for your sausage sizzle for the day.

If you have a special dietary requirement, please email the PTA at pta@kirkwood.school.nz before Wednesday 12 June with your specific order. You will still need to pay cash at the office on the Friday before school.

What I have been reading: If you are not a big fan of thick long novels, have a go at poetry books. Are you already a fan of Dr. Seuss? It’s great! Many are placed in the 800s in our library. They might be short but to get the real meaning behind, you need to be pretty clever! Do you want to try? Here is one from my favourite book ‘Where the Sidewalk Ends’ by Shel Silverstein who also wrote The Giving Tree.

Early Bird

Oh, if you’re a bird, be an early bird
And catch the worm for your breakfast plate.
If you’re a bird, be an early early bird—
But if you’re a worm, sleep late.

Issue one of your favourite poetry books from our school library and email me about it. I would like to know. Oh! That can be your new genre for your Pizza Wheel. Mrs Eum.
