Instead of our traditional Open Day/Night this year we are hosting groups by appointment for various dates in June, July, and August.

These Open Day appointments run for one hour and are a group session.  Your child is welcome to attend with you.

You may book your appointment via our School Interview booking system.  Please go to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and enter the event code 68ymk and follow the steps as instructed.

When you have finished, your appointment confirmation will be emailed to you. Please note that you can return to the site and enter the event code 68ymk again to change or cancel your session.

If you do not have internet access, please call the school office (phone 348 7718) and we will be able to make a booking for you.  Please note that the office will be closed during the holidays.

COVID-19 Level 2 Update

You will be aware that all of New Zealand, except for Auckland, has been placed on Level 2. For our school and our pupils and staff this will mean:

  1. we will reinforce safe and hygienic practices;
  2. we will not hold meetings of over 100 people at a time;
  3. we will continue to take advice from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education;
  4. all school transport continues to work as usual;
  5. the School Disco is postponed for the time being;
  6. Cross Country has been cancelled;
  7. children and staff will continue to work as usual;
  8. your help in keeping your child home if they are unwell is most appreciated;
  9. please continue to sign in at the school office when you come into the school.

Thank you for your understanding and support. I will get back to you if anything should change.

Best wishes

Principal

Enrolments for 2021

We are currently taking enrolments for Year 7, 2021.

Kirkwood chooses to have no enrolment zone and parents from all over Christchurch make the decision to send their children to us for age and stage appropriate education.

We are still accepting enrolments for 2021.  If you have not yet enrolled your child, we would like you to do so by the end of September.

University of Canterbury student Speech Research

A University of Canterbury Speech Therapy student would like volunteers to assist with her speech research. Details as follows:

Do you have a late talking 3-year-old?

We are looking for 3-year-old children who are later talkers to come and join us on a space adventure. During this adventure, they will have to name some pictures while we measure their brainwaves. They also get to take home a present! We need late talkers and children with typical language development to participate in the study.

You will receive a $30 voucher as appreciation for your time.

Please get in touch with Sarah Hinchey (shi75@uclive.ac.nz) if you would like to receive more information, or would like to refer a child.
